Each year, students can elect to participate in the Hartford Courant's Stock Market Game with Mr. Sumpter. During the simulated financial literacy game, students invest a hypothetical $100,000 over a ten week period through online transactions. Engaging in teamwork, students decide where to invest their "capital" based on analyzing market trends, reading current events articles and researching prospective purchases.
Throughout the competition, students can see where they rank among the participating teams throughout the state.
Last spring, one of our teams place 2nd in the state! They received an award and gave a speech to an audience that included other top teams, their parents and teachers, and newspaper employees.
